So improbable, the impossible has happened

Unbelievable.  Unbelievable.  The two-time reigning Euro champions are out!  Oh, there was a second match?

1E-Italy scored early and late in methodically eliminating 2D-Spain, 2-0.  The Spanish fizzled in the World Cup and continued at the Euros.  Change is coming.  Of course, the reward for Italy is a quarterfinal matchup with 1C-Germany.

I'm gonna miss hearing Vin Scully's voice and a portion of one of his most famous quotes is so applicable here:  "So improbable, the impossible has happened!".  In the second match, oh my, 2B-England got off to a dream start with a PK conversion in the 3rd minute.  Tiny 2F-Iceland would be doomed and the rout on.  But the spirit of Nordic island country fought back with two great run-of-play goals by the 18th minute.  Even with 72 minutes left, England had
few creative plays.  Too many crosses that were long and went out of bounds.  It seemed the media pressure got to them as it seemed, at the 60th minute, England was doomed.  I was watching at TGI Friday's, claiming my free Jack Daniels rib eye, and just not sensing the English with any type of urgency or pressure.  So this gives 1A-France an easy path to the semis, right?  And the USA win the 1950 World Cup is no longer the barometer of an English disgrace.

Sisyphus13 was the only one to pick tiny Iceland and also picked Italy for a perfect 2-0 day and moved from a tie for 22nd to 9th (67 pts).  13 others picked ITA but it's still JBueno in 1st (75) with BigRedMessi2 alone in 2nd (74) and Big Blue alone in 3rd (72).  BigRedMessi2 got 6 of the 8 Round of 16 matches correct while EnglishCantUsePhones (25th, 59) and Cheesy Grits FC got just 3 right (27th, 57).  TheComeBacker (10th-T, 66), No Biting (17th-T, 63), and Kona Coast Sliders (23rd-T, 62) lost their champ ESP while FC Spermicidal (17th-T) lost champ ENG.

ITA's win eliminated 7 from winning the pool and 2 from winning money.  ISL's win eliminated two more from winning the pool, leaving just 8 who could be champions while 20 still can win money.  So after six Round of 16 matches that saw the same 26 entries alive remain alive, in two matches, six were cut down.  Big Blue now has the best chance at money (59.4%) while BigRedMessi2 still has the best chance at 1st (29.7%).
